What a Difference a Year Makes

2014 was a really exciting year for our church overall and for our missions program specifically. In May of last year our missions program was given a new name, a blog and a emphasis on involving Crossroads in serving the people of our community and around the world.

This time last year, nine of us were preparing for our first trip to work with Restore Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. We now have an ongoing partnership with Restore Brazil and some exciting upcoming opportunities to be involved on an ongoing basis. DSC_0313

We began working with World Relief of Fort Worth in the summer of 2014. World Relief has allowed us to become engaged with a refugee family as well as provided us with opportunities to be a part of events that make a difference in the lives of the refugees they serve.

We expanded our reach to China as we began supporting the C family who left in August to begin teaching English to Chinese students.

Thank you to everyone at Crossroads who has been involved in Crossroads missions this year.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do”  -Ephesians 2:10

Looking forward to 2015, there are some exciting opportunities becoming available in which to participate in the good works that God has prepared foe us to do. Read below for opportunities to go, serve, and pray.

How will you make a difference in 2015?

Upcoming opportunities for 2015:

Go: In July of this year we will be spending a week in San Francisco working with Afghan and Yemini refugees with Global Gates

Global Gates goal is to bring the gospel to unreached people groups who have sought refuge in the US. During our week in the Bay Area we will have the opportunity to hear how working with refugees is affecting the lives of people in unreached countries, practice sharing the gospel with least reached communities and serve in cross-cultural communities

For more information about Global Gates, visit: http://www.globalgates.info/

Serve: World Relief of Fort Worth resettles more than 500 refugees each year to the Fort Worth area. The majority of the refugees arrive to our area with only a suitcase full of belongings and no knowledge of English or American culture. Working with World Relief, we have adopted a refugee family to introduce them to life in American and help them settle into their new home.

It has been a great experience teaching our refugee family American culture, food and games. We now have the opportunity to begin working with a new refugee family and we need volunteers help us welcome this new family to America.

Pray: Restore Brazil has been working to bring the message of God’s hope and peace to the impoverished communities of Rio De Janeiro. Eric and Suzana have specifically been focusing their efforts in the City of God. This slum in Rio is overwhelmed by drug use, crime and extreme poverty.

Suzana has requesting we begin specifically praying for the her and Eric, as well as the families they are serving. Please inform me if you would like to be added to the prayer lists and I will send you prayer requests as I receive them from Rio.10380726_888350531209926_9049395603841810001_o

Please join us in praying for Brad and Jicole Wells who are IMB missionaries in west Africa.  They have just received some very difficult news about their first pregnancy.  May we all join together in lifting them up before our Lord in all of our churches.  Thank you.
